Tata Sierra vs Renault Duster – The Indian mid-size SUV segment is going to be animated with the introduction of the Tata Sierra and the future Renault Duster. These SUVs are planned to take on the present champion Hyundai Creta who will be offering customers the rugged design, the latest technology and performance, though at a price. To find out more about the differences between these two SUVs, read the article.

Tata Sierra
The Tata Motors company has very recently introduced the Sierra at the opening price point of Rs 11.49 lakh. This SUV has a strong, futuristic look and features gloss black cladding along with the unique alpine window-esque styling reminiscent of its, now discontinued, ancestor. The designer has given the exterior a deluxe look while at the same time also providing it with the ability to withstand hard use which makes it the best choice among the mid-size SUVs.
The inside is where the Sierra shines with its triple screens, ventilated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, 12-speaker JBL audio system, premium leather upholstery, and other luxury features, and more. The fit and finish level is one of the best in Tata’s history of vehicles and that alone makes it a very strong competitor along with the Duster.
The powertrain options consist of a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 106 bhp and 145 Nm, a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine with 160 bhp and 255 Nm, and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine producing 118 bhp and 280 Nm on the automatic variant. The Sierra has a premium design, a large cabin with 622 liters of luggage room, several engine options, and maybe an AWD version next year as its advantages. Nonetheless, the base NA petrol feels weak, the long-drive comfort has not been thoroughly tested in real life, and the brand’s after-sales service is still a concern in the case of Tata.

Renault Duster
The company Renault will soon introduce the next-gen Duster, with a target to replicate the success of the mid-size SUV Duster in 2012. The new Duster is characterized by a robust and tall stance with LED lights in the shape of a Y, thick plastic side protectors, and a squared silhouette. The car seat will be hard and practical, having a 10-inch display for infotainment, 7-inch digital meter, all-round camera, and wireless charger with a 3D Arkamys sound system.
Rounding up the Duster engine options is a 1.3-litre turbo petrol that produces 160 bhp, besides a 1.2-litre 48V mild-hybrid petrol producing 140 bhp, and a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid petrol with a 1.2 kWh battery pack. India is anticipated to be among the markets that benefit from the new turbocharged petrol and mild-hybrid petrol engines when the next Duster comes. Diesel will not be an option for now. The rugged design, strong ride quality, a reliable turbo petrol engine, and a loyal fanbase can be listed as pros. On the other hand, the less premium interior as compared to the Sierra, fewer features than rivals like Creta and Seltos, and the delayed launch which can turn down the already made-up buyers are the cons.
Tata Sierra, in the end, has a huge impact because of its premium appearance, attractive features, and engine choice, while the Renault Duster still stands for ruggedness, performance, and brand loyalty. The decision will be between luxuriating in and being practical with both SUVs that are going to be the disruptors in the mid-size segment.
