Tata Punch EV vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG – 350 km Electric Range or 30 km/kg CNG Efficiency

Tata Punch EV vs Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG – Tata Punch EV and Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG embody two completely opposite pathways to affordable mobility in India. Punch EV is promoting the electric future with zero-emission, while the Brezza CNG is still heavily dependent on the CNG network in India. For making a decision, one needs to focus on low running costs and silent performance with instant torque or convenience with quick refuelling and proven reliability.

Running Costs

Cities with high-mileage drivers are very much depending on the efficiency. The Tata Punch EV gives around 315-421 km per charge with a running cost of around ₹1-1.5 if home charger is used. DC fast charging (10-80%) takes around 56 minutes with a 50 kW charger. The Brezza CNG has a range of 25.5 km/kg but running cost is ₹2-2.5 per km and it takes only 3-5 minutes to refuel. Overall, the Punch EV is the long-term winner in cost efficiency, while the Brezza CNG is offering the flexibility and petrol as backup along with the convenience.

Performance

The Punch EV outputs about 121 PS along with 190 Nm of instant torque delivered via its smooth single-speed automatic, thus making it very suitable for urban driving. The Brezza CNG generates 86.6 PS and 121.5 Nm but is restricted to a manual transmission and loses power when operating on CNG. When it comes to the trunk, the Tata gets the upper hand with a capacity of 366 litres, while the Maruti thinks it has a mere 200 litres because of the CNG tank.

Safety and Features

The Punch EV is the winner with a five-star rating from Bharat NCAP, six airbags, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 360° camera, ventilated seats, and four-wheel disc brakes. The Breza CNG car gives a four-star rating from GNCAP, six airbags (premium variant), a nine-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, and electric sunroof. In terms of service availability, the Brezza offers wider options and lower cost of parts, while the Punch EV provides more modern features and higher safety standards.

Verdict

Pick the Tata Punch EV if you have a daily journey not exceeding 200 km, you can recharge your vehicle either at home or at work, and you want the least expensive running costs coupled with a comfortable and strong automatic driving experience.

On the other hand, pick the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG if you are looking for quick refuelling, longer trips without charging worries, and a preference for a more budget-friendly option that comes with a good service network.
