Why the Tata Altroz Racer is India’s Fastest Track-Tested Hatchback

Tata Altroz Racer – The Tata Altroz Racer has taken the Indian hot-hatch segment to a new level with its definitive performance, fearless design, and fully loaded haunts. After the official track comparison with rivals like the Hyundai i20 N Line and Maruti Fronx Turbo, it has been crowned “Fastest Indian Hatchback” by the India Book of Records.

Track Performance

The record-breaking run happened at the CoASTT Racing Track in Coimbatore, and the car was driven by Narain Karthikeyan, who is India’s first-ever Formula 1 driver. The Racer finished the lap in 2 minutes 21.74 seconds, which was more than 2 seconds faster than the Hyundai i20 N Line and nearly 1 second quicker than the Maruti Fronx Turbo.

Engine

The new vehicle is a modification of the Nexon, boasting a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine that produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The engine’s torque is delivered in a silky smooth, linear manner, thus providing better control when cornering. Besides, the 6-speed manual gearbox not only facilitates track performance but also gives one precise control over power delivery.

Chassis and Handling

Built on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, the Racer gets a robust, rigid chassis that reduces body roll. Besides, suspension tuning and a responsive steering ratio help ensure confident handling at high speeds while keeping city driving comfortable.

Safety and Features

The car, however, does not cut corners in safety and driver conveniences. It has the usual Tata strengths of a 5-Star GNCAP safety rating, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree camera system. The Altroz Racer is track-worthy and at the same time practical for daily driving.
