Mahindra XEV 9S – Mahindra is going to make a significant impact on the family EV market with the release of the XEV 9S on November 27, 2025. Marketed as India’s first genuine mass-market three-row electric SUV, the XEV 9S unites passenger space, cutting-edge technology, and a sassy SUV’s appearance all in one package. This new EV, with its practicality and high-end appeal, is hoped to attract the most families as it will be the least expensive option among electric SUVs.
Design
The Mahindra XEV 9S is taking cues from both the XEV 9e and the visionary XUV.e8 concept. Its styling is so that modern but welcoming to families, the first visual cue being the straight roofline which immensely contributes to the headroom in all three rows. The front end not only gets a clean look from employing sharp LED DRLs but also gets a playful look thanks to the triangular projector headlamps that together create a strong identity for the car. The tail-lamps with a smoky effect and a rear styling similar to the XUV700 add a mature and classy feel to the vehicle. Mahindra’s new butterfly logo is a visual cue of its INGLO-platform EV DNA. The dual-tone alloy wheels, a revamped rear bumper, and an open panoramic sunroof that can be operated come together to great effect in enhancing the overall look of the car, distinguishing it from the other EVs in the segment that usually come up with fixed glass roofs.

Interior & Features
The interior of the XEV 9S is going to be nothing short of luxury and high-tech for Mahindra. The three-screen dashboard layout, which is also a feature of the XEV 9e, guarantees a connected and engaging experience. The use of soft-touch materials, multi-colour ambient lighting, and the Harman Kardon sound system transforms the cabin into a lounge-like space. Among the features are the ventilated leatherette seats, the second row seats that can slide and recline, wireless charging, multi-zone air conditioning, and an electric boss mode that all contribute to everyday comfort. The design of the flat floor facilitates the third-row access, while the power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function provides more convenience for the regular drivers. The XEV 9S is designed to be the perfect combination of spaciousness, comfort, and tech-savvy.

Engine
Mahindra Powertrain hasn’t come out with official figures yet but based on the sister models; the anticipation is quite high. The XEV 9S should be equipped with 59kWh and 79kWh LFP battery packs, which are currently powering the XEV 9e and BE 6. There is also a possibility that the SUV will have an all-wheel-drive configuration by adding a front motor for better grip and performance. The top-end models are estimated to have a range of over 500 km, besides rapid DC charging support. This mix will result in the XEV 9S being appropriate for both daily urban and long-distance freeway use.

Safety
Mahindra’s INGLO platform was designed with building up strong structural safety into it. The XEV 9S is going to be the best car in this domain with not only organs but also advanced active safety features. The full story will be unveiled at the launch, but the SUV can already be presumed to be equipped with many airbags, cutting-edge driver assistance systems, a sturdy body structure providing crash protection for all three rows, and so on. Besides, it is expected that the company’s recent models have been tested thoroughly and achieved the highest marks in safety tests as the XEV 9S is already considered to be following the same route.

Colours
Mahindra is going to present the XEV 9S in a variety of trendy dual-tone and single-tone colours reflecting the brand’s new EV design philosophy. Some of the shades anticipated are elegant whites, dark blues, fashionable greys, and lively reds with options for blacked-out roof combinations to give a more sophisticated look.
Price
The Mahindra XEV 9S is likely to come at a price range of Rs 22 lakh to Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom). It is positioned over the XEV 9e but still far from the ₹50-lakh luxury EV segment. As a three-row electric SUV, it will provide an unbeatable value proposition in the mass-market EV class.
