Kia Carens Clavis EV – Launch, Range, Pricing & Strategy Behind India’s Affordable 7‑Seater EV

Kia Carens Clavis EV – Kia has made an official announcement regarding the introduction of its new Carens Clavis EV to India, thus entering the segment of mass-market electric MPVs. This new electric vehicle with a capacity of 7 people is a combination of treetop, avant-garde, and impressive performance that exceeds the range and is priced competitively, so it will be among the most affordable electric MPVs in the Indian market. The price of the Clavis EV starts from ₹17.99 lakh for the basic variant and goes up to ₹24.49 lakh for the fully equipped extended-range model. By doing this, Kia places it as a practical choice next to premium electric MPVs such as the BYD eMax 7, while at the same time it indirectly competes with hybrid MPVs such as the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Invicto.

Design

The Carens Clavis EV still has the same basic shape as the regular Carens but converts it to manufacture an electric vehicle. The inner space accommodates seven adults comfortably in three rows. The seats of the second row can be adjusted and folded, giving more options for luggage or family needs. Good aerodynamics of an efficient nature, smooth lines, and new-age additions make it the most attractive vehicle without reducing interior space. The arrangement of the seats is perfect for long drives, weekend trips, or daily commutes with batteries that support modern EV features, which increase the convenience factor.

Engine

Kia gives the option of two batteries for the Clavis EV. The standard 42 kWh battery provides an ARAI-certified range of 404 km, while the 51.4 kWh extended-range battery lasts up to 490 km, suitable for longer travels. Both options come with a powerful electric motor, which guarantees smooth acceleration, steady performance, and an overall comfortable ride at the same time cutting down on energy consumption and running costs.

Safety

The Carens Clavis EV has a primary emphasis on safety, which is very important and has been constantly prioritised. Among the standard features are airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and parking sensors. All these technologies guarantee a safe driving experience not only during city traffic but also during long distances, thus making the car a good choice for families who prefer electric MPVs and need a safe one.

Technology

The Clavis EV draws on modern technology to the hilt when it comes to both the comfort and the entertainment. Among the luxurious devices are a completely digital instrument cluster, a huge touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and numerous USB charging points spread out in all the rows of the car. With these, the Carens Clavis EV looks like a tech-savvy and family-friendly vehicle.

Price

The Carens Clavis EV has a competitive price tag, with its base model availability for ₹17.99 lakh and the touted range-extending variant going up to ₹24.49 lakh. Such a low starting price places it among the least expensive electric 7-seater multipurpose vehicles in India, directly challenging BYD’s premium rivals without compromising on space, practicality, and range.
