Hyundai Creta Rivals: 8 New SUVs Lined Up To Challenge Hyundai’s King

Hyundai Creta Rivals: Hyundai Creta has largely retained its identity in the midsize SUV segment for quite a few years. Nevertheless, things are about to change drastically as the competition is getting tougher. During the period from 2025 to 2026, a number of new SUVs will come in with new designs, hybrid tech, EV powertrains, and luxury features in this space. Some are completely new models, while others are significant updates. Allow us to present the full list of the eight strongest contenders that are likely to challenge Creta.

Sierra

The Tata Sierra is returning to the market, and this time it is in a very stylish way. It is on the schedule to be launched on 25 November 2025, it will be the toughest competitor to Creta among others. Tata is most likely to provide three different kinds of engines to choose from: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel. An all-electric version of the Sierra is also set to be introduced in early 2026, hence giving even wider options to the customers in this segment.

eVitara

The e-Vitara, which is the first-ever electric SUV from Maruti, is scheduled to be launched on December 2, 2025. e-Vitara is based on the new Heartect-e skateboard platform and features two battery options of 49kWh and 61kWh. The driving range is expected to exceed 500 kilometers which would, therefore, make the e-Vitara a better choice than many of its competitors in terms of range. Its launch will also signify Maruti’s addition of the electric vehicle segment of the SUV market.

Seltos

The next-gen Kia Seltos will have its world premiere on December 10, 2025, and its eventual arrival in India is anticipated for the early part of the next year. The next iteration will be characterized by the sharper design, connected displays of 12.3 inches in size, and reconfigured cabin layout. Kia is also preparing a hybrid variant, the launch of which is likely to take place in 2027.

Kushaq

Skoda is planning a huge facelift for the Kushaq in 2026. The renewed model will come with minor changes along with the introduction of ADAS features to remain in the game. The same line-up of engines will be there, nevertheless, the refinement and overall cabin experience will probably be better.

Taigun

The same Volkswagen will bring a facelift to the Taigun in 2026 as well. Just like the Kushaq, the Taigun will receive fresh styling, alongside the new ADAS functions and the more updated interior. The 1.0 and 1.5-litre TSI powertrains will be carried forward without any changes. The release date, however, is still under wraps.

Elevate

A hybrid version of the Elevate is likely to be launched in India by Honda around Diwali time in late 2026. If it does, it will come with the same reliable hybrid system that is found in the City e:HEV. Honda only sells the 1.5-litre petrol engine-equipped Elevate in the country, hence, the hybrid will elevate its competitiveness.

Tekton

Nissan is gearing up for the Tekton, built on the new Renault Duster but with a Nissan-specific design and brand identity. It will have the same construction, features, and engine options— a 1.3-litre petrol and a 1.2-litre mild-hybrid. The Tekton is predicted to come at the end of 2026, thus increasing the competition among the mid-size SUV segment significantly.
