Hyundai Creta Electric Makes India Debut – First Look, Range, Features & Expected Price

Hyundai Creta Electric – Hyundai Creta, one of the most popular SUVs in the country, has ushered in a new era with the unveiling of the Hyundai Creta Electric at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The Creta brand now covers petrol, turbo-petrol, diesel and electric powertrains with the introduction of this EV—making it one of the most adaptable SUV line-ups in India. The ICE Creta’s sales have exceeded 1.1 million units already in the past eight years and the electric version is likely to repeat the same success.

Powertrain

The Hyundai Creta Electric offers a choice of two battery packs: 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The range of a fully charged battery differs based on the selected variant ranging from 390km to 473km. The SUV is also available with different motor configurations of 99kW and 126kW, with the 126kW variant able to sprint from 0 to 100kmph in just 7.9 seconds. Hyundai is evidently prioritizing the combination of long-distance traveling facility with powerful performance.

Charging

The issue of charging has been made much easier. Using an 11kW wall-box AC charger for home, the Creta Electric can be charged from 10% to 100% in only 4 hrs. For fast top-ups, a DC fast charger does the job of 10% to 80% charging in just 58 minutes. With the above-mentioned numbers, the Creta Electric can be considered not only for office commutes but also for inter-city highway trips without range anxiety.

Design

The outer profile of the Creta Electric is still close to the ICE model, but EV-specific features have given it a more advanced appearance. The front part has a graphic grille made of pixelated design with an integrated charging port. The active air flaps increase the cooling and improve aerodynamics. The pixel-designed bumpers, tyres with low rolling resistance and the new 17-inch alloy wheels made for aerodynamics further confirm its identity as an electric vehicle. The whole design strategy follows Hyundai’s global “Pixel” theme for EVs.

Interior

The cabin is dressed in a dual-tone Granite Grey and Dark Navy color scheme. The 10.25-inch infotainment and 10.25-inch digital cluster screens are still arranged in a dual-screen layout just like the ICE version. However, the EV incorporates a new steering wheel with three spokes and Morse code motifs. Besides, the company also highlights another environmental aspect: the seats consist of PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) bottles and cornstarch synthetic leather for the upholstery. Hyundai is still practicing the eco-friendly method that it introduced with the Ioniq 5.

Features

The Creta Electric comes equipped with the front seats that can be ventilated, powered 8-way with memory, a welcome retract function and rear passenger-controlled front seat for legroom extension. Besides the features mentioned, there is a shift-by-wire system, Bose 8-speaker sound system, complimentary in-car music streaming from JioSaavn, a cooled glove box, cooled front armrest storage, and a 22-liter frunk including the 433-liter rear boot.

Technology

With Digital Key, ADAS-linked regenerative braking, single-pedal driving (i-Pedal), V2L power transfer, 268 voice commands, and Bluelink connected features, Hyundai makes the tech experience even more appealing. The incorporation of these features raises the Creta Electric to a new level of competition in the midsize-EV market.

Safety

In terms of safety, the Creta Electric has SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill-start assist, hill descent control, ESC, VSM, child seat anchors, and tire pressure monitoring system. Moreover, the vehicle’s body is constructed using advanced and high-strength steel which significantly adds to the durability of crashing.

Price

The price of the Hyundai Creta Electric is anticipated to be around ₹17 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base variant. After its launch, it will have to face competition from the likes of Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv.ev, and Mahindra BE6. However, the Creta’s brand trust and value are strong.
