Citroen Basalt Vision Debuts With Sportier Design And Performance Attitude At 2025 Sao Paulo Motor Show

Citroen Basalt Vision – Citroen squared off and took center stage at the 2025 Sao Paulo Motor Show with the new Basalt Vision, which is a more sporty and performance-oriented version of the its Basalt coupe SUV. The eye-catching amber yellow color of the Basalt Vision is a future sport-oriented trim to showcase in case Citroen would bring it into production. The concept comes only a few months after the debuts of the ordinary Basalt, alerting the audience that the company is there to find out if customers are interested in a more lively and daring version through the event.

Design

The Basalt Vision by its very nature has a lower stance and a more solid road presence than the standard Basalt. With new bumpers, chrome dual exhaust finishers, 18-inch chrome alloys crafted in a petal pattern, and red accents on brake calipers, spoiler and exterior trims, the vehicle is aggressive yet keeps the original body proportions. The slippery surfaces and the chevron logo get darker for the high-contrast finish while the tail lamp bar merges more smoothly into the bodywork. The glossy black cladding on the sides makes it more appealing as a tough SUV, while exclusive decals inspired by the double chevron brand’s identity offer a slight difference.

Interior

Even though visuals of the complete cabin are still not available, Citroen has confirmed that the Basalt Vision is going to be a car with top-spec trims of the production model. Thus, the fans can expect dual digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control and connected car technology with remote functions and diagnostics among others. The shared cabin layout also indicates that Citroen could distinguish the interior easily by the performance-themed elements like contrast stitching, sporty upholstery, special trim inserts and floor mats with the brand name if the Vision goes into production.

Performance

The Basalt Vision is likely to come with the same powertrain options as the standard Basalt which are already known under the surface. The customers will be able to choose between the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The former receives a 5-speed manual gearbox, whereas the turbo version provides a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Power outputs will be in the range of 80 to 109 bhp and torque will be from 115 to 205 Nm, but still the Basalt Vision rather focuses on enhancing driving feel through a sportier stance than going over with a completely new high-performance engine.

Price

The Basalt Vision is quite an engineering skill and can easily be done more in showrooms than even replacing the general layout fully. Suspension adjustments, wheels, caliper finishes, and exterior styling are the main areas where development costs will be kept low. Upon approval for production, the Vision variant would be situated a little over the standard trims, with the price difference expected to be around ₹50,000 to ₹100,000. The fully equipped models would be priced between ₹1.4 million and ₹1.5 million, thereby competing with the fashionable mid-sizes such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, and Honda Elevate. The edgy new design and sporty road behavior would be the main attraction rather than the numbers of pure performance.
