6 Soon-Launching New Electric SUVs – India’s electric vehicle (EV) market is on the verge of a major leap forward, and the upcoming 6-9 months will be a period full of new products. The leading automakers are preparing for the rolling out of small and medium-size electric SUVs powered by zero-emission sources plus good range and latest features. Below is a brief presentation of the upcoming events.

1. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara & Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV

The first proper electric SUV of Maruti Suzuki in midsize segment has already been produced in Gujarat and is almost ready to be launched in India. It will present two choices of batteries, seats with cooling, and Level 2 ADAS. Very soon after this, Toyota will reveal its version Urban Cruiser BEV that will adopt the same platform and battery but with different styling to create a distinct identity for both brands.

2. Hyundai Compact e-SUV

Hyundai is working on a tiny and cheap electric SUV that would be made for India and other developing markets. This model is below the Creta Electric, and that is why it is expected to draw a lot of styling from the global Hyundai Inster and at the same time be very localized to maintain its competitive pricing. Mainly this SUV will be appealing to city consumers who want to get a non-luxury EV filled with good features.

3. Tata Sierra EV

The legendary Sierra nameplate will be brought back with its ICE version in November 2025, and after that, the fully electric Sierra EV in early 2026. It will borrow the major hardware from the Curvv EV and Harrier EV and might get the bigger battery from the e-Harrier. The Sierra EV is imagined to have long-range, roomy interior, and an SUV feel focused on the outdoor lifestyle.

4. Mahindra XEV 9S

The Mahindra XEV 9S will be the first all-electric three-row SUV from the company. It will use the INGLO skateboard platform and is expected to have two battery pack options with a real-life range of over 500 km. This vehicle is intended for large families and buyers who want comfort and presence on the road for long distances not necessarily through luxury brands.

5. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra is also working on a low-cost EV version of the XUV 3XO, which has already been seen during test drives on numerous occasions. It will be a direct competitor of the Tata Punch EV and certain variants of the Nexon EV. This EV model is designed for daily use in the city and it aims to make Mahindra’s electric lineup affordable to the first-time EV buyers.
