Volvo has released a new batch of upgrades to its electric vehicle lineup, including more extended range, more power, fast charging, and rear-wheel drive (RWD) variants in Volvo’s new C40 and XC40 Recharge. Both the range (WLTP) and charging for the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge have been improved over the current model by up to 60 km on some variants.
In addition, the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge will get three new powertrains, including two rear-wheel-drive variants and a revised all-wheel-drive performance model. Volvo is offering a rear-wheel-drive product for the first time in 25 years.
Volvo is planning to shift to 100 per cent electric by 2030. Aiming to make 50% of sales volume electric by 2025, the Swedish automaker sold 66,749 electric vehicles in 2022, up 159% from the previous year, as its overall EV share crossed 10%.
In March 2021, Volvo introduced the C40 Recharge Pure Electric, a smaller, lighter crossover version of the XC40 electric SUV. You can also call this an entry lever car. This EV is also getting good responses in the international market.
