Japanese automaker Toyota has officially revealed the picture and details of the new-generation Prius (Prius). The new 2023 Toyota Prius (2023 Toyota Prius) will come with a plug-in hybrid set-up and two other hybrid solid powertrains. The Strong Hybrid will be offered in markets such as Japan and North America, while the PHEV model is being built for the European markets.
The styling of the new Toyota Prius is inspired by the new bZ full-EV range, which sports a coupe-like design. The new model is shorter, wider and shorter than the current model. However, the wheelbase has been extended to create more space inside the cabin. The interiors of the new Toyota Prius are inspired by the bZ4X EV SUV, which gets a dedicated floating infotainment and digital driver’s display. A warning system in the dashboard will flash ambient lights, alerting the driver when something is detected close to the car.
The European-spec new 2023 Toyota Prius will only come with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine. This engine generates a power of 220 bhp. The outgoing model of the Prius gets a 1.8-litre petrol engine with a hybrid system that produces 121 bhp power. The PHEV comes with a 13.6kWh battery placed under the rear seats. The new model is claimed to offer 50 per cent more full-EV range than its predecessor. This car can run up to 90 km in full EV mode. The company will offer the Prius PHEV with optional solar roof panels.
The Strong Hybrid versions will come with the 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol engines with powerful hybrid technology. The powertrain can generate up to 194 bhp, and both versions will come with Toyota’s E-Four AWD technology.
The new Prius comes with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes a front-facing monocular camera, a rear-facing camera for the digital inside mirrors, and an in-vehicle drive recorder.
