The Tata Punch compact SUV was introduced in October 2021 and has since been profitable for the nation’s domestic automaker. The model lineup offers two gearbox options, an 86 horsepower, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, and four trim levels. Currently, the Punch is offered for between Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 9.54 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors India will debut in the compact SUV sector in 2023 to compete with the Tata Punch. The forthcoming Tata Punch competitors are described in some detail here.
Hyundai Mini SUV
According to speculations, the South Korean carmaker may present its brand-new small SUV at the 2023 Auto Show. The vehicle internally referred to as the Hyundai Ai3, will be built on the same chassis as the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. It will be the nation’s smallest Hyundai SUV. It will draw some of its design cues, functions, and parts from the Hyundai Casper, which is sold in a few international markets. The new Hyundai small SUV built for India will be larger, though. The 1.2L petrol engine of the Ai3 mini SUV has a power output of 82 horsepower and 114 nm. The Grand i10 Nios uses the same power as well. It might also be offered with the CNG fuel option.
Maruti Baleno Cross
The new subcompact SUV from Maruti Suzuki will debut in January 2023 at the Auto Expo. Maruti Baleno Cross is the anticipated name for the vehicle. It will sport the new Suzuki design language and probably borrow features and the interior design from the Baleno hatchback. The Heartect platform will be the foundation for the upcoming Maruti compact SUV. It is said to have a 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine that satisfies BS6 pollution regulations. The automaker may release the Baleno Cross with a 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol (89bhp/113Nm) or 1.5L Dualjet petrol (102bhp) engine.
