Tata Motors on Thursday announced that it had achieved a new milestone by delivering its 50,000th electric car. This specific model was the Tata Nexon EV, delivered to Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran. The domestic car brand has announced this on its social media platform.

The carmaker currently sells three electric cars in India: the Tiago EV, the Tigor EV and the Nexon EV. The Nexon comes in two variants – Nexon EV Max and Nexon EV Prime.

The Nexon EV is the bestselling electric car from the automaker. Also, it is the best-selling electric car in India, rivalling the likes of the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV. The upcoming Mahindra XUV400 also falls in this segment. The Tata Nexon EV has helped the automaker capture the largest share of the Indian electric car market, which has been growing rapidly over the past few years.

The Tata Nexon EV Max promises a range of 437 km on a single charge thanks to the 40.5 kWh battery pack. The Nexon EV Max was introduced in May this year to enhance the power and range of the popular electric compact SUV. The price of this electric car is between Rs 17.74 lakh and Rs 19.24 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes as the high-end variant of the Nexon EV, while the lower variant is the Nexon EV Prime.

After the Nexon EV, Tata Motors also introduced the Tigor EV and the Tiago EV, which sport a design similar to the internal combustion engine models of the compact sedan and hatchback. The Tiago and Tigor EV are India’s two cheapest electric cars.
