November has been the best month ever for car manufacturers this year. Even after the festive season, there is substantial demand for vehicles for personal use, which is expected to record sales in 2022. Major vehicle manufacturers Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Mahindra, said their wholesale sales had seen a jump last month. Kia India, Honda Cars, Skoda and MG Motor also registered strong sales last month. With this, the passenger vehicle industry registered its best growth in November. However, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and Nissan reported that their wholesale sales have decreased in the period under review, i.e. November 2022, compared to November 2021.

Maruti Suzuki sales

The total wholesale sales of the country’s largest car company Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), increased by 14 per cent to 1,59,044 units in November 2022. The company said it had supplied 1,39,184 vehicles to dealers in November 2021. The statement noted that MSI’s domestic sales increased by 18 per cent to 1,39,306 units during this period. He sold 1,17,791 units in November 2021.

Hyundai Motor India Sales

Hyundai said its wholesale sales in November 2022 increased by 30 per cent to 48,003 units compared to 37,001 units in November last year. Tarun Garg, director (of sales, marketing and service) at Hyundai Motor India, said the company is set to record domestic sales in 2022.

Tata and Mahindra sales

Wholesale sales of Tata Motors passenger vehicles last month (November 2022) increased by 55 per cent to 46,037 units. In the same period a year ago, this figure was 29,778 units. At the same time, domestic sales of Mahindra & Mahindra increased by 56 per cent to 30,392 units in November.

Kia sales

Kia sold 24,025 units in November 2022. This is a growth of 69 per cent compared to the same period last year. Hardeep Singh Brar, vice-president and head of sales and marketing at Kia India, said the company is likely to post record sales this year due to improvement in customer sentiment and pick-up in demand.

honda sales

Honda’s sales increased 29 per cent year-on-year to 7,051 units in the period under review (November 2022). Yuichi Murata, director (of marketing and sales) at Honda Cars India, said that the demand for cars has remained reasonable even after the festive season due to somewhat better economic prospects.

Sales of other car manufacturers

Skoda Auto India reported that sales are expected to double to 4,433 units in November 2022. Similarly, MG Motor India’s retail sales grew by 64 per cent year-on-year to 4,079 units. At the same time, wholesale sales of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) declined by 10 per cent to 11,765 units in November 2022. Similarly, Nissan also talked about the decrease in sales.
