BMW India started the new year on a grand note by introducing its flagship luxury sedan with petrol and electric powertrain options. The all-new 2023 BMW i7 and 7 Series have been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.70 crore. The company has opened bookings for the car, and the deliveries will start in March this year.
The ex-showroom price of the seventh-generation BMW 7 Series is Rs 1.70 crore. Its diesel variant will be introduced later. The all-new BMW i7 is now the company’s flagship electric vehicle in India and has been launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.95 crore. While the ICE version will be manufactured locally at the BMW Group Plant in Chennai. Whereas the 2023 BMW i7 will be imported to India as a CBU.
The BMW i7 was introduced in India in its top-spec xDrive 60 variant, which has two electric motors. It has a combined power output of 536.4 bhp and generates a torque of 745 Nm. The i7 gets a 101.7 kWh battery pack, which offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 625 km on a single charge. In the Indian market, it will compete with cars like Mercedes-Benz EQS (Mercedes-Benz EQS), Audi RS e-Tron GT (Audi RS e-Tron GT), and Porsche Taycan (Porsche Taycan).
There are several powertrain options available in the BMW 7 Series. However, the India-spec 740i M Sport variant gets a 3.0-litre, inline-6-cylinder petrol engine. This engine generates 375.4 bhp and a peak torque of 520 Nm. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed AT transmission and gets BMW’s xDrive AWD system. This flagship luxury sedan car from BMW will compete with cars like Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Audi A8 in the Indian market.
