Nissan India sold the X-first Trail’s two generations in the domestic market, but the third generation was unavailable in local showrooms. The fourth generation, however, has begun road testing and will be presented in India. The Japanese manufacturer debuted three high-end SUVs from its global lineup in India in October 2022.
The Juke and Qashqai were driving alongside the X-Trail. It has also been reported that the seven-seater X-Trail would be the first model to come out and compete with vehicles like the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Skoda Kodiaq, and Volkswagen Tiguan. The most recent X-Trail model, which has a five-star Euro NCAP safety certification, made its debut in Japan earlier this year.
The 2023 Nissan X-Trail is offered in five- and seven-seater variations in other markets, but India might only get the latter. By the middle of the next year, it is anticipated to be on sale, with costs averaging approximately Rs. 40 lahks. Before releasing future models built on the primarily localised CMF-B platform, such as the next-generation Duster, Renault and Nissan will try to introduce goods from their global lineup.
Features are likely to include a 12.3-inch digital instrument console, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a 10.8-inch heads-up display, high-end interior trims and surface finishes, a 360-degree camera system, Nissan’s ProPILOT suite with ADAS technology, a Bose premium surround system, and others.
The CMF-C platform, which also supports the Mitsubishi Outlander, serves as the X-structural Trail’s foundation. The 2019 X-Trail offers various powertrain choices, including a 2.4-litre four-cylinder NA petrol engine or a hybrid drivetrain with AWD. However, a 1.5-litre e-Power engine, which is essentially a self-charging hybrid system, or a 1.5-litre turbocharged gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology is anticipated for India.
