MG Astor and ZS EV facelift revealed; Launch in India in 2023

The popular midsize SUV ZS, marketed in India as the Astor, has received a facelift by MG. The redesigned MG ZS and its electrified variant, the ZS EV, have been introduced for international markets. The front profile alterations are the main focus of the facelift, while there are also small side and rear profile changes. The updated MG ZS has been made public in Thailand, where the car’s name is now MG VS.

The exterior of the redesigned MG ZS has a fully redesigned fascia, where a new, more angular, horizontally stretched grille has taken the place of the previous model’s bulky, rounded grille. Headlamps have replaced even the sweptback headlamps with crisp edges that nevertheless include all-LED technology. Additionally updated, the front bumper now has a distinctive diamond pattern and more oversized side air intakes.

The updated MG ZS’s side and rear lines are unchanged, with slight adjustments to the machined alloy wheels and unique LED inserts for the taillamps. The 2019 MG ZS and ZS EV are anticipated to have the same interior layout and include features such as a fully digital instrument dashboard, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a sizable panoramic sunroof, although interior specifics still need to be made available.

Petrol-hybrid option

The petrol-hybrid MG ZS (or VS, as it is known there) has arrived in Thailand. The 1.5-liter 115 PS naturally-aspirated petrol engine and the 1.3-litre 140 PS turbocharged petrol engine will be available if the facelifted MG Astor ever makes it to our country. MG will probably use the battery pack from the current model’s 50.3 kWh, which boasts a 461 km range, in the ZS EV.

MG has yet to confirm the arrival date of these updated ZS (Astor) and ZS EV models in India. Given that the current iterations of both SUVs were only recently introduced in India, MG may release these more recent iterations at the end of 2023 or at the start of 2024. The revised Hector midsize SUV will be on sale starting in January 2023, according to the current plans of MG. MG’s Air EV is currently being developed into a two-door tiny battery-electric city car with all-electric propulsion.
