Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet launch on January 6

The E53 Cabriolet 4Matic+ from Mercedes-AMG will debut in India on January 6, 2023, and will be sold there as a CBU. The mild-hybrid straight-six turbo-petrol engine in the AMG-spec four-seat convertible will be released after the E 53 sedan, GLE 53 coupe-SUV, and EQS 53 EV sedan, will make it the fourth ’53’ badged AMG car in India.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet: what is it?

The E 53 Cabriolet is the two-door, four-seat convertible version of the E 53 sedan. It is available in AMG trim levels worldwide. But this is not the first time Mercedes has introduced the open-top E-Class in India; the previous model was introduced in 2010, and its facelift was introduced in 2015. This time, Mercedes will offer India the more potent AMG variant.

powertrain and performance

The E 53 sedan and GLE 53 coupe-SUV use the same 435 horsepower, 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an integrated starter generator that produces an additional 21 horsepower and 249 Nm of torque in the Cabriolet. AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension and Dynamic Select driving modes are also included.

Using a 9-speed automatic transmission, the power is distributed to all four wheels. Mercedes claims that the E53 Cabriolet has an electronically regulated top speed of 250 kph and can accelerate from 0 to 100 in 4.6 seconds.

Design, interior and features

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 Cabriolet has AMG-exclusive improvements, such as a trademark grille and a redesigned front splitter, which harmonises its front-end design with other AMG models.

The enormous dual 12.3-inch instrument and infotainment screens, along with the big, flat-bottom AMG steering wheel, are the basic interior design’s standout characteristics, comparable to that of the sedan. The E 53 Cabriolet is outfitted with amenities like a Burmester music system, cordless phone charger, and ambient lighting. Additionally, it has an AIRSCARF to keep the necks of the front passengers warm.

Launch and rivals

There won’t be any direct competitors for the E 53 Cabriolet in the Indian market when it is first introduced. Mercedes-Benz will provide information about its future ambitions for India at the conference and present the E 53 Cabriolet.
