At the Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki unveiled the 5-door Jimny lifestyle SUV. MSIL had begun taking pre-orders for the Jimny and the Fronx crossover at the time of the announcement. By placing a deposit of Rs 25,000, interested purchasers can reserve the lifestyle SUV online or through authorised NEXA dealerships. Buyers have responded favourably to the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, as evidenced by the more than 15,000 reservations made for it in less than three weeks.
Through the NEXA network of premier dealerships, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be sold. Although the specific launch date has yet to be disclosed, the off-roader will most likely be introduced in May 2023. The SUV will come in four models and two trim levels, Zeta and Alpha. According to our estimates, the new model should cost between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 14 lakh.
The 1.5-litre K15B 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the lifestyle SUV has an idle start/stop mechanism for maximum fuel efficiency. 103 bhp and 134.2 Nm of torque may be generated by this gasoline engine with naturally aspirated fuel. Both a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission are available. It has Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system, which has 2WD-high, 4WD-high, and 4WD-low modes. It also has a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox.
The only Maruti Suzuki product with a ladder-frame chassis is the Jimny. The SUV has a 36° approach angle, a 50° departure angle, and a 24° break-over angle. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny has the following dimensions: 3985mm long, 1645mm wide, 1720mm tall, and a 2590mm wheelbase. It’s 210mm ground clearance is more than double that of the Force Gurkha. The SUV’s boot capacity is 208 litres with the back seats in place.
The Maruti Suzuki Jimny’s top-tier ALFA variant is furnished with features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, automatic headlamps, Arkayms surround sound system, auto AC, cruise control, smart keyless entry with push-button engine start/stop, electrically foldable side mirrors, LED headlamps with DRLs, and others.
