Maruti Suzuki Fronx Receives 5,500 Bookings in India; See Key Details

New SUVs from Maruti Suzuki will soon be launched in India. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx, based on the Baleno, is one of those notable releases. On January 12, the small crossover SUV was introduced, and reservations for the vehicle opened the following day. Since then, more than 5,500 reservations have been made for the car ahead of its formal introduction in April 2023. The Indian automaker will have two models in the compact SUV market after this introduction. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny will also soon be released in the Indian market, according to the company.

Looking at the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, it is clear that the crossover draws clues from the design of the Baleno and Grand Vitara. Furthermore, the car also shares features of the aforementioned models like DRLS, LED headlamps, 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless charger, HUD, 360-degree camera, and more. The car will also be high on safety with 6 airbags.

All five Maruti Suzuki Fronx trims—namely, Sigma, Delta, Delta plus, Zeta, and Alpha—will have access to these amenities. The two engine choices for these models are the 1.2-litre, four-cylinder NA engine and the three-cylinder, turbo-petrol Boosterjet engine. These engines will be coupled to five-speed manual transmissions, with 6-speed torque AT available in Zeta and Alpha models.

Maruti will make this car available in 9 colour options. There will be 6-single colour options, including Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Opulent Red, Grandair Earthen Brown and Splendid Silver. There will be 3-dual colour-tone as dual tone colour options, in which Bluish Black with Earthen Brown, Bluish Black with Opulent Red and Bluish Black with Splendid Silver will be offered with colour options.

The 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine gives out 100 hp of peak power and 147.6 Nm of peak torque. While the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine gives out 90 hp and 113 Nm of peak torque.

Maruti has yet to announce the price of this car. But according to estimates, its price can be between Rs. 8-11 lakhs, ex-showroom.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx will compete with cars like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kaigar, including Maruti’s own Brezza after its launch in April.
