While the Jimny has an approach angle of 36 degrees, a departure angle of 50 degrees and a ramp-over angle of 24 degrees, the Thar gets 16-inch and 18-inch wheels, depending on the variant. While the Jimny is powered by the sole 1.5-litre K15B petrol (103bhp / 134Nm) engine.

In terms of transmission, the Thar gets a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to a 6-speed MT, while the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol engines get the option of a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT. The Jimny, on the other hand, will get the 1.5-litre petrol engine on the outside with a choice of 5-speed MT or 4-speed AT.
