Mahindra’Born Electric’ SUVs; Know the features, specification and All

In August 2022, Mahindra showcased its five electric SUV designs in the UK. These SUVs will be sold and marketed under the two new sub-brands XUV.e and BE, with the former making its market debut in 2024.

At an event in Hyderabad where the 2023 Formula-E is being hosted, Mahindra Electric unveiled their range of electric SUVs known as “Born Electric” in India. Mahindra is creating the BE and XUV electric SUV models as part of the Born Electric program. Mahindra’s XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 are included in the XUV.e range, while the BE range consists of three modes: BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. On February 10 at the Mahindra EV Fashion Festival, the automaker showcased three new cars.

According to Mahindra, the first XUV.e model that is ready for production will hit our market by December 2024. The new EVs are built on a brand-new INGLO modular chassis that can accommodate various wheelbase, track, and powerplant configurations and AWD and RWD layouts.

The XUV.e8, which shares stylistic characteristics with the premium XUV700, will be the first Mahindra Born Electric SUV to be introduced in our market. The general style and seating layout can distinguish its ICE equivalent. The XUV.e8’s dimensions are 4,740mm long, 1900mm wide, and 1760mm tall, and it has a 2762mm wheelbase.

The new Mahindra XUV.e8 will likely provide extra space within the cabin because of the flat floor and longer wheelbase. A 5-seater and a 7-seater version could also be introduced in our market. A full-wide LED light bar that spans the width, bumper-mounted headlamps, a closed-off front grille, and a sharply sculpted bonnet are a few of the design features. The XUV700’s rear design is mainly carried over, but it has slightly updated taillights and a thin brown/golden color line that runs down the width and length of the SUV and blends into the LED DRLs up front.

A shared battery pack based on the two-cell architectures, Blade and Prismatic, has been confirmed by Mahindra for the newly released electric SUVs. According to the company, the Battery Management System increases range while maintaining longevity and safety. The company has revealed that the XUV.e8 will come with an AWD system and a battery pack of about 80 kWh in size. It is stated to have a power output between 230 and 350 horsepower.
