Mahindra will showcase its range of upcoming electric SUVs at an event in Hyderabad on February 10. The carmaker initially revealed the SUV at its European Advanced Design Center in August last year, after which the model will be showcased in India for the first time. The carmaker revealed five new “Born Electric” SUV concepts, two under the XUV branding and three under a new BE brand. The concept showed off future production models, each expected to arrive in the coming years.
The electric XUV comprises two models, the XUV.E8 and XUV.E9, with the former having a more conventional SUV design with styling derived from the XUV700. The second one was a sportier-looking SUV coupe with a longer wheelbase.
The BE range comprises three models, BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09. The BE.05 is a 4.3-meter-long compact SUV concept with a sharp and sporty design that hints at a fully electric SUV to rival models like the MG ZS EV. Meanwhile, the BE.07 was set to sport a more conventional design, with the production variant being targeted as a family SUV. Finally, it was BE.09. A “head turn” will be the grand tourer SUV, with a sculpted design, dynamic roofline and solid stance.
Mahindra has already confirmed that the new modular is going into production with all models based on the INGLO platform except the BE.09. The XUV e.8 is expected to debut in late 2024 and will be followed by the BE.05, set for 2025.
Besides showcasing its Born Electric SUV concept in Hyderabad, Mahindra will also hand over the keys to the XUV400 Exclusive Edition to the auction winner. Mahindra & Mahindra Chairman Anand Mahindra will personally hand over the keys to the vehicle.
