Japan’s automobile manufacturer Honda Motors is preparing to bring two of its new SUVs to India. The company will introduce a compact SUV based on its Amaze platform in the country this year. The company will launch this car in many countries, including India. This car can be launched in India by the middle of 2023.
All the information about this car has been kept secret till now, and it has not been seen during testing in India or any other country. This new Honda car will compete with cars like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Seltos, Tiguan, and Aster in the country. A strong hybrid technology will be used in this, due to which this car will also give tough competition to Maruti’s Grand Vitara in the Indian market.
Currently, the company sells the WR-V in this segment, which is set to be discontinued by April 2023 as per the new RDE norms. The new Honda SUV is expected to come into the market with two seating layouts, 5 and 7-seater. The length of the 5-seater model will be around 4.3 metres.
The name of the new hybrid SUV could be “Elevate”. The new model will get the 1.5-litre i-VTEC NA petrol engine from the new fifth-generation Honda City sedan, which will be offered with a CVT automatic gearbox. Its cabin will get a completely new electronic architecture and screen system. It will get a 10.2-inch digital driver display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist and ADAS.
Will it compete with the Grand Vitara?
The car will rival the Grand Vitara, which has a hybrid powertrain available with a 1.5 L petrol engine. Also, a mild hybrid technology option is available in it. This car gives a mileage of 27 kmph.
