The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will debut at the 2023 Auto Expo next month and will go on sale in the 2nd (second) half of next year.
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. is preparing to debut the five-door version of the Jimny and the Baleno-based YTB crossover at the 2023 Auto Expo next month. The event will be held in Greater Noida, and the largest carmaker in the country will also unveil a new electric SUV concept, which will give a glimpse of its first EV coming by 2025.
Ahead of its global premiere, the first pictures of the five-door Jimny have surfaced on the internet. The test model is currently in the final stages of testing, and India will act as the production hub for domestic and international markets. The five-door Jimny is larger than the global three-door Jimny Sierra.
Apart from the longer wheelbase, it has two additional doors and a more extensive overall profile to accommodate more passengers. The five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny retains vertical body panels, flared wheel arches, body-coloured pull-type door handles, a flat roofline and spares.
You can also see tail lamps mounted on the rear bumper, rectangular ORVMs, U-shaped alloy wheels and large rear quarter glass. The overall length of the five-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be 3,850 mm, while the wheelbase length has increased by 300 mm and will now stand at 2,550 mm.
The five-door Jimny will draw power from a 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15B mild-hybrid engine, generating around 103 PS and 138 Nm of peak torque. The powertrain will be mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission with Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro 4WD system as standard.
The lifestyle off-road SUV will rival the upcoming five-door Mahindra Thar and five-door Force Gurkha. It will probably be launched around August 2023. The top-end variant is expected to have features like an extensive touchscreen infotainment system with SmartPlay Pro+ connectivity.
