2023 Mahindra Thar 5 Door Interiors Spied – Rear Legroom, Boot Space

If there is one product in the lifestyle market that no longer needs an introduction, it is the Mahindra Thar. Since Mahindra modified the Thar CRDE to what it is today, the lifestyle segment has grown significantly in popularity.

It has the advantage of being the first properly desirable lifestyle car. The 3-door is now one of the country’s hottest SUVs. Demand is skyrocketing, and the waiting period has followed suit. Despite this, Mahindra is preparing to unveil another Thar variation, the Thar 5-door.

2023 Mahindra Thar 5-Door Interiors Spied

With Jimny on the way and Gurkha on the horizon, Mahindra is poised to make its Thar even more desirable. Thar is now available in a three-door configuration. This is inconvenient for consumers searching for an automobile that can do it all. With five doors, Mahindra will broaden Thar’s appeal.

The growing frequency of test mules can indicate that a launch is approaching. Thar has been seen again, revealing much more information than the last test mule detection. Talking Cars is responsible for the most recent spy pictures of the 2023 Mahindra Thar 5 Door. Aaron wins, a Rushlane Spylane member, shared the update.

Velusamy, Mahindra’s Senior Vice President and Head of Automotive Product Development, revealed that the 5-door Thar would be built on the Scorpio N platform. Based on a substantially modified Thar 3-door platform. This platform is 81% built of high-strength steel:

  • Scorpio N prioritized chassis stiffness
  • Handling
  • High-speed qualities over Thar’s ruggedness

The Scorpio N platform will have a rear suspension for increased comfort. He added that the base of the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio would be modified to accommodate length changes for the forthcoming Thar 5-Door. Apart from adjustments in length and wheelbase, Thar’s general appearance and feel, as well as its feature set, will remain the same.

The interiors of the Mahindra Thar 5 door have been revealed in new spy photos. Its dashboard is comparable to that of the modern Thar 3 door. The configuration of the front seats is likewise identical. The rear seats provide adequate legroom, and there is sufficient boot capacity. The rear seats are split 50:50 and foldable.

Some significant elements are round headlamps, a front grille with seven slats, LED DRLs positioned on the fenders, 18″ alloy wheels, and much more. The existing Thar tailgate will be preserved, and it is unknown whether Mahindra would provide a convertible option with the 2023 Thar 5-door.

Features & Specs

Mahindra can supply more oomph to the 5-door variant than the 3-door version due to the increase in size. Figures similar to Scorpio N are also possible. The 2.0L turbo petrol engine in the Scorpio N produces 200 horsepower @ 5,000 RPM and 370-380 Nm of torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission.

The 2.2L diesel engine is available in two tuning levels. Expensive variants get 172 horsepower and 370 Newton meters with MT and 400 Newton meters with AT. On cheaper models, this engine is also available with 130 horsepower and 300 Nm. Different from the 3-door variant, and the 5-door version is unlikely to include 4X4 as standard to keep the price competitive.

Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door and Gurkha 5-door are rivals. Force Motors plans to treat clients with alternatives such as a 6-seater, 7-seater, 9-seater, and even a massive Gurkha, based on the Cruiser MUV, with 13-seater combinations. Expect the Thar 5-door to be roughly Rs 1-2 lakh more expensive than the Thar 3-door when it goes on sale.
