Hyundai has officially announced that a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine will soon be added to the new Verna sedan. This engine can generate 160 PS and 253 Nm of torque. The new 1500cc turbo petrol engine will also power the refreshed Creta, Kia Seltos, and Verna.
Hyundai has already stopped selling the Creta, Seltos, and Carens’ 1.4-litre turbocharged gasoline engine. This engine’s upgrade will meet the BS6 Stage 2 and RDE (Real Driving Emission) standards. 140 PS and 242 Nm of torque can be generated by it. Compared to the 1.4L engine, the new 1.5L powertrain has 19PS and 11Nm greater horsepower and torque. The new powertrain outperforms the 1.5L TSI engine from the VW by 9PS and 3Nm.
The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine is available worldwide with 48V mild hybrid technology. The India-spec model won’t be available with mild hybrid technology, though. Both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission are available. An additional engine option for the 2017 Verna will be a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol unit. This engine generates a torque of 145Nm and 115PS. There will be a 6-speed manual, an IVT, or a CVT as options for transmission.
Hyundai is also getting ready to release the new Creta SUV, which is anticipated to be on sale in early 2023. The new Kia Seltos, on the other hand, is expected to debut over the festive season before Diwali. Along with high-end equipment, the 2019 Hyundai Creta will have a considerably updated exterior and an improved interior.
A cutting-edge driver assistance system may be available for the Creta and Seltos (ADAS). The ADAS technology will include automated emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, etc.
