Honda Activa Electric scooter launch by 2024; Know the details

Honda recently introduced the Activa H-Smart version, which includes an upgraded hands-free system similar to keyless cars’ capabilities. Atsushi Ogata, MD and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), also unveiled the company’s EV strategy during the occasion.

As was expected, the electric version of Honda’s most popular Activa scooter will be its first electric vehicle (EV) for India. Ogata claims that Activa Electric will debut at the same time the following year, in January 2024. It will be interesting to see if Activa Electric can match the ICE-based competition’s popularity level.

The company has announced that Honda’s electric scooter, the Activa, will receive a full battery pack. A top speed of 50 kmph is what it will achieve. Up to this point, more details concerning this scooter need to be revealed. It will resemble the ICE version in terms of appearance, though. The braking and suspension systems on Activa Electric will be identical to those on the combustion version. With telescoping front suspension and a 3-step adjustable rear suspension, it will have 130 mm front and rear drum brakes.

A speedometer and tachometer can be given in Honda Activa Electric with an LED headlamp and analogue odometer. This scooter currently comes in variants like Standard, Deluxe and Smart. The price of which is between Rs 74,536 to Rs 80,537. However, its price may be higher for the electric version.

The two-wheeler brand has informed us that the company will produce in-house electric motors in the country itself. The company has been working on manufacturing electric motors and batteries locally for a long time. To strengthen its infrastructure, the company will make huge investments in the financial year 2023-24 to increase the production of its vehicles. At the same time, the company will strengthen the network of battery-swapping stations before the launch of its second electric scooter.
