Mahindra BE 6e vs Mahindra XEV 9e – Which Electric SUV is Better?

Mahindra BE 6e vs Mahindra XEV 9e – With the Mahindra BE 6e and Mahindra XEV 9e launching, Mahindra has now expanded its INGLO EV platform to a great extent, However, they attract totally different buyers. The main reason for the issue between them is the roller coaster of high-tech Features, which along with the same state-of-the-art architecture, is finally a matter of personal taste: sporty performance and looks or ultimate comfort and luxury.

Design

The Mahindra BE 6e is a sporty compact SUV with a smooth and a slanting roofline at the same time, having a total length of 4,371 mm, which is shorter than that of XEV 9e. The sporty look though aggressive does not go unnoticed and has a market segment of premium mid-size EVs, which are attracting performance-oriented and style-conscious buyers. On the other hand, the Mahindra XEV 9e is a massive SUV/crossover with a huge SUV body that takes up 4,789 mm in length. Its bulk gives out space for two more rows of seats, a larger luggage compartment, and a strong road presence, all of which are traits of family use or buyers who are more of the comfort than sporty side.

Performance and Range

Both of the SUVs present the same two powertrains with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery options. In fact, BE 6e has 228 bhp in the 59 kWh model and 282 bhp in the 79 kWh model, with the latter reaching 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. At the same time, the XEV 9e performs the same, with the 0-100 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Still, the BE 6e has a very slight advantage over the XEV 9e in terms of range, with its 79 kWh variant claiming up to 683 km, while XEV 9e gets 656 km, due to its less size and less aerodynamic drag.

Interior and Features

The BE 6e places great emphasis on a driver-focused environment and thus comes equipped with two 12.3-inch displays which are meant for the driver’s dashboard and for the multimedia system respectively. In contrast, the XEV 9e is a real luxury product and a technological marvel when it comes to the triple-screen arrangement where a separate screen for the passenger in the front seat is included. The XEV 9e provides a larger cabin, a reclining rear seat which is comfortable, and a huge boot with a volume of 663 liters which is great for family holidays or daily commuting over long distances

Price and Practicality

With a price tag of ₹18.90 lakh, the BE 6e is the cheapest way of getting to the Mahindra’s INGLO platform. Its compact size and sporty look have also made it more user-friendly to navigate and park in the dense urban areas. XEV 9e which is priced at ₹21.90 lakh is not the most economical option but it gives the aspiring buyer of a tech-laden, full-size electric SUV an indoor area that is second to none, upscale amenities, and most presence on roads.

Verdict

It all comes down to lifestyle and priorities when it comes to selecting between the BE 6e and XEV 9e. If you are a fan of sporty styling, slightly better performance, longer initial range, and a cheaper entry point, the Mahindra BE 6e will then be the best choice for you. Conversely, if interior space, high-tech features, comfort, and a dominating presence on the road are your main considerations, then the Mahindra XEV 9e would be the right pick. Both SUVs are equal in terms of safety, performance, and reliability and thus can be considered as serious players in the EV market of India which is on the rise.
