Exterior

The test prototype of the Kia Sorento Hybrid shows a long glasshouse, straight-up tail section, and two-tone 19-inch alloy wheels, quite similar to the global Sorento Hybrid. The signature lighting features are seen to have been inherited from the international model, which includes new LED treatments and Star Map-style DRLs. In addition to the new colours such as Interstellar Grey, Mineral Blue, Cityscape Green, and a shade similar to sand, the SUV is expected to have a luxury appeal.

Interior

The Sorento Hybrid is all about tech and comfort at the front. The entry-level versions are expected to have a 4.3-inch multi-information display and a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, while the top-end variant may have a sweeping curved panel with two 12.3-inch screens merging into one. The interior is anticipated to have features such as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, several USB-C ports throughout the three rows, ventilated seats, a suede roof liner, and the Advanced Digital Key 2.0 system for the luxury trims. The SUV will be powered by Kia’s latest ccNC software which provides faster responses, better graphics, and over-the-air updates.

Performance

It is speculated that the Sorento Hybrid, which is destined for India, will be equipped with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine, a 44.2 kW electric motor, and a 1.5 kWh battery pack. The total output of 227 hp and 250 Nm of torque can be transmitted to the wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. Generally, front-wheel drive is the norm in most trims, but the option of all-wheel drive is anticipated in a few variants. The hybrid system, despite its size, claims to deliver excellent fuel economy, with FWD international versions getting 15.1 kmpl.

Safety & Features

The Sorento Hybrid will likely be equipped with top-notch driver assistance systems, such as Smart Cruise Control, which is in tune with the driver’s style, and the most recent Highway Driving Assist, which supports lane changes. The SUV, which places a strong emphasis on luxuriousness, safety, and comfort, intends to provide a refined experience for seven occupants.

Competition

The Kia Sorento Hybrid, once it is launched, will be facing off against premium 7-seater SUVs such as Jeep Meridian, Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster. The strategy of Kia seems to be to situate the Sorento as a tech-savvy, hybrid alternative within the segment that is still largely dominated by conventional petrol and diesel engine vehicles. Thus, it will be catering to those buyers who want the advantage of modern efficiency along with the luxury of ample space and comfort.
