Tata Motors is going to introduce it on the 25th of November, 2025, and it will be located between the Curvv and Harrier in the mid-size SUV segment. Tata Motors is preparing the launch of the new Tata Sierra all-the-way-up on November 25, 2025. Sierra, which will sit between the Curvv and the Harrier, will enter the lifestyle SUV market with a bold promise—the most powerful SUV in the middle segment. Its length will be about 4.3–4.4 metres, which is typical of mid-size SUVs competing with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Victors, and, of course, other popular models. To attract the area’s premium feature and performance buyer, the Tata is giving Sierra.
Engine
The new Sierra’s biggest eye-catcher is its all-new 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. This engine was first highlighted at the 2023 Auto Expo and is expected to deliver 170 hp along with 280 Nm of torque. The numbers ensure the Sierra will be the most powerful SUV of its kind. Both the manual and automatic transmission choices will cater to different driving styles with flexibility.
The Sierra has a clear power advantage over the competition. The Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos provide 160hp with their turbo-petrol variants. Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq offer a 150hp 1.5-litre TSI engine, while a 156hp turbo engine will be fitted to the new Renault Duster. With the extra output, the Sierra easily takes the lead among the competitors in terms of performance figures.
Options
In addition to the strong turbo-petrol engine, Tata will provide two more engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine likely to generate about 120hp and 140Nm. This unit will be fitted on the lower variants, and it will be targeted at customers looking for a gentler and simpler engine choice. The engine will be in direct competition with the naturally-aspirated ones in the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victors, and Honda Elevate.
The alternate engine choice is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel motor, which is the same as the one that currently powers the Nexon and Curvv. The engine, which generates 116bhp and 260Nm, is praised for its smoothness as well as its efficiency. A 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic gearbox are the likely transmission options, making it a good choice for diesel lovers.
Pricing
To lure in a broad spectrum of buyers, the new Sierra is likely to have a price set by Tata that is quite aggressive. The projected price bracket is between ₹11 lakh and ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom). It would then face direct competition in the mid-size SUV category from the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victors, and others. With powerful performance, various engine choices, and luxurious features, the Sierra is on its way to being one of the major launches for Tata.
