Kia Sorento Hybrid: The new Kia Sorento Hybrid has been seen testing in India for the first time, which confirms that the three-row SUV will be launched in 2026. The camouflaged test model was observed in a parking lot, thus showcasing its tall profile, big alloy wheels, and a rotary gear shifter in the interior. This luxury 7-seater will be positioned above the Seltos and Carens, thus making Kia’s entry into the full-size family-SUV market in India. It will compete with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, and MG Gloster once it hits the market.
Design
The Sorento is still quite visible even when it’s heavily camouflaged. The SUV has a very square shape, an upright hood, and a wide back that underlines its three rows of seats. The test vehicle had 235/55 R19 tires, which means that 19-inch alloy wheels are also going to be available in India. Its squared wheel arches and flat tailgate are very bold indeed. The covered parts suggest some of the manufacturer’s designs, such as T-shaped LED DRLs, a tail-lamp setup that is all connected, and a modern Tiger Nose grille which is visible on the global facelift. The cutouts on the bumper for the sensors are indicative of ADAS Level 2 features for the Indian model.

Interior
An interior image that has been leaked reveals confirming a rotary dial gear selector which is a sign of the hybrid powertrain. The cabin of the Sorento is going to be luxurious just like the international one. A global model has a panoramic curved panel with two 12.3-inch displays, Kia’s latest ccNC system, OTA updates and connected-car functionalities. India will get the same layout. Premium offerings could be soft-touch materials, ventilated seats, multi-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and a Bose audio system. The Sorento with its spacious three-row seating and multiple charging ports will offer comfortable and upmarket experience.

Hybrid
The Sorento is globally available with a variety of engine options such as a 2.5-litre petrol, 2.5-litre turbo-petrol and strong-hybrid systems based on a 1.6-litre turbo engine. In India, Kia is likely to prioritize the strong-hybrid variant on account of the increasing hybrid demand. A petrol-only variant might be introduced, but diesel seems highly unlikely. The hybrid system would provide improved efficiency as well as quieter operation thus attracting customers even from the diesel-only premium SUV segment.
Launch
The India release of the new Kia Sorento Hybrid is by the end of 2026, as testing has already begun. The SUV will be marketed as a premium product, with a price range of ₹35 lakh to ₹45 lakh (ex-showroom) likely, which will vary according to the variant and engine. This release will mark a significant milestone in Kia’s expanding India plan, especially since the company is already gearing up for several new models after the global premiere of the next-gen Seltos.
