Volkswagen Tayron: Volkswagen is getting ready to launch its Tayron, a premium mid-size SUV that will be capable of competing with the best in the market due to its excellent performance, high safety standards and the brand’s famous solid German engineering. Above the Tiguan, the Tayron features a more aggressive design, a more spacious 7-seater configuration, and the latest technology, thus appealing to those who want a family SUV that is both refined and rugged.
Design
With its solid and elegant styling, the Tayron stands out among the rest of the VW line-up and is also the first model on the new MQB EVO platform which increases safety and strength. The boldness of the exterior is reflected in the large grille, precise LED lighting and the elongation of the body for the third row of seats. The wider the SUV is and the better the detailing is, the more it will show the confident and mature presence on the road that one would expect from a global Volkswagen flagship.

Premium build
The Tayron is no exception when it comes to German solidity and premium build. The interior is made of durable soft-touch materials, a quiet and well-insulated cabin and a minimalistic dashboard which are all part of a typical German car. Spacious ergonomically designed seats, top-quality switches and smart storage areas all together create a luxurious, comfortable and long-lasting environment that is perfect for both city commutes and highway trips.
Tech
A big screen of up to 15 inches for infotainment, a full-digital driver display and the latest connected car functions are among the advanced tech features packed into the Tayron by Volkswagen. Luxury elements like a panoramic sunroof, mood lighting, and massaging front seats make the overall experience more pleasant. It is also anticipated that the SUV will have ADAS functions such as lane assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking.

Drive
The Tayron’s heart is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine that delivers an output of approximately 204 horsepower, which is equipped with a polished 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV is also given the advantage of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system that guarantees skilful handling across different driving conditions. The Tayron offers stable grip and equal performance no matter the city, wet highways or light off-roading, and it does so without needing the driver to make any manual inputs.
Space
Designed as a vehicle for 7 people, the Tayron has a longer wheelbase and wider interior dimensions than the standard Tiguan. The second row has generous space in terms of width and legroom for family use, while the third row is perfect for kids or infrequent passengers. The boot of the Tayron offers significantly more space to accommodate its practical utility for long-distance travels or large luggage.
Launch
Volkswagen is said to set its foot in the Indian market with the launch of the Tayron in 2025, most probably at or after the Diwali season. The SUV being a high-end one with its global features will have to face fierce competition from Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner. The anticipated price range for the Tayron is expected to be between ₹48 lakh and ₹55 lakh (ex-showroom), thus placing it in the upper mid-size premium SUV segment.
