Now, the SUV will also offer 25km/kg mileage, the Tata Safari CNG, with 6 airbags, launching at ₹12 lakh

Tata Safari CNG: Tata Motors has made the decision to unveil the Tata Safari CNG as the next surprise gift for SUV lovers. This enormous 7-seater SUV will now be available with a CNG option, which will be highly fuel-efficient and cost-effective. The news is that Safari CNG could provide about 25 km/kg, thus making it a probable contestant for the title of the most fuel-efficient SUV in its segment. A price of approximately ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom) for the starting model has been set, hence claiming the title of India’s first premium CNG SUV.

Safari CNG Design

The Tata Safari CNG takes the imposing and upscale design of the current refreshed model, which has gained a lot of attention. The car comes equipped with LED projector headlamps, lively DRLs, an assertive front grille, and a powerful SUV appearance. The interior follows the bi-colour motif and is equipped with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while a panoramically opened sunroof is also present. To highlight this specific model, Tata has introduced CNG-specific branding and a revamped instrument panel, which is different from the petrol and diesel ones. All in all, the design keeps the rugged yet premium look that has always been a part of the Safari line.

Engine and Performance

It is anticipated that the Safari CNG will house a 1.5-litre turbo CNG-compatible powertrain under its hood that will produce around 120 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The engine, which will be using CNG as fuel, promises to be smooth in its operation and will be able to endure long trips without any difficulty. Tata is likely to install a dual-cylinder CNG tank arrangement, which will prevent the trunk from losing its volume to a great extent. With the fuel consumption rate of almost 25 km/kg, the Safari CNG will not only meet the oil crisis issue but also set a new standard for big 7-seater SUVs in India.

Features and Technology

Tata Safari CNG will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and safety features. Tata’s Intelligent iCNG Technology includes Automatic CNG Start Mode, Leak Detection System, and Automatic Fuel Switching. Among the comfort and convenience features are ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, an air purifier, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There are also 6 airbags, ESP, Hill Assist, TPMS, and ADAS Level 2 to support safety. All these enhancements upgrade the Safari CNG to one of the most sophisticated CNG SUVs in its class.

Pricing and Launch

The starting price of the Tata Safari CNG is said to be around ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom), with the top-spec variants costing between ₹14.5–15 lakh. It is expected that Tata Motors will roll out the SUV in early 2026, thereby putting it among the elite 7-seater SUV segment. Having no direct rivals in its category, the Safari CNG is likely to be the largest player in the premium SUV market with alternative fuel options for a long time.
