Mahindra BE6 Formula E Edition Debuts in India With Motorsport-Inspired Makeover at ₹23.69 Lakh

Mahindra BE6 Formula E – Mahindra has made the BE6 Formula E Edition accessible to Indian consumers at a base price of ₹23.69 lakh (ex-showroom). This variant offers the BE6 a new power and motorsport-inspired identity, which celebrates Mahindra Racing’s vigorous support in the global Formula E championship. BE6 has already formed a strong following in India, and this edition offers more exclusivity, sharper design and special touches that signify it as an electric SUV with no parallels drawn to the standard one. It’s just a year that the BE6 and XEV 9e have joined the Electric Origin SUV family, and Mahindra is already diversifying the range with special editions that attract enthusiast and early EV adopter alike.

Design

The Formula E Edition is different from the others because of its powerful and race-derived look. The basic outline still holds, but Mahindra has added a sportier front end that features a gloss-black bezel round large circular projector lamps giving the SUV a radical new character. The bumper gets a Satin Silver skid plate and colour accents in Firestorm Orange or Everest White depending on the exterior paint chosen. A twelve-stripe pattern that commemorates the brand’s Formula E livery is now on the hood and glass roof.

There are only four colors available on this edition: Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Tango Red, and Stealth Black. Each color is highlighted by the contrasting bumper inserts to accentuate the motorsport theme. The SUV is fitted with dark-themed 20-inch wheels that are aero-optimised and have racetrack-inspired graphics, and the brake calipers are painted in Orange to harmonize with the Formula E styling. The backside gets a redesigned bumper, dual roof spoilers and a new tail-light design that no longer resembles the previous C-shaped arrangement.

Interior

The cabin carries the motorsport-inspired aesthetic theme with Firestorm Orange dominating its palette. The dashboard, door panels, and centre console are all given more precise Orange inputs for a complete look. The console gets a special plaque that says “FIA X Formula E Edition”, which makes the model even more exclusive. The branding of Formula E can be found on both the seats and the dashboard, and the seatbelts also have the FIA logo. The start-stop button is now under a race-car-style flap, which is an addition that brings a distinctive dramatic feel with it to the cabin experience.

Besides that, Mahindra has also brought a unique Formula E-themed startup animation that is shown on the infotainment display, together with special exterior sound signatures that further the character of the SUV. The doors are fitted with translucent inserts and Orange strap-type handles that unite the futuristic design and the motorsport-inspired features.

Engine

Mahindra’s INGLO platform powers the BE6 Formula E Edition and the larger 79 kWh battery pack from BYD is what the car is using. The electric motor produces 282 hp and 380 Nm of torque just like the standard BE6 with the larger battery pack. The vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds and attain a maximum speed of 202 kmph. Mahindra asserts that the Race mode has been re-tuned specifically for quicker throttle response and instant acceleration, thus making the overall driving experience more interesting.

Safety

The Formula E Edition comes with the same level of safety as the standard BE6, which is already a significant advantage due to Mahindra’s INGLO architecture and its high-strength body design. In addition to the airbags, ABS, ESC and traction control, the SUV is still provided with the advanced structural reinforcements that are developed using Mahindra’s racing capacity. The Orange-finished calipers for the upgraded brake system not only give a sporty look but also boost the driver’s confidence in braking during high-energy driving.

Tech

Mahindra provides the Formula E Edition with a fully digital cockpit experience just like the previous versions. The custom startup animation and the unique exterior sound effects further underpin the exclusivity of the experience. The infotainment system is equipped with a plethora of connected features like monitoring the vehicle’s health, navigation, remote controls, and setting up profiles. The ambient lighting and LCD displays get the graphics inspired by Formula E to keep the connectivity of the cabin intact.

Price

The BE6 Formula E Edition is being offered in two variants. The FE2 is tagged at ₹23.69 lakh, while the FE3 is just a little costlier at ₹24.49 lakh, both prices being ex-showroom. The Formula E Edition is only compatible with the larger 79 kWh battery pack, unlike the standard model.
