First Look
Taking a close look at the new Tata Sierra, the first impression is definitely positive. The SUV has a strong character with a powerful presence and a very neat design. However, there are some issues that Tata Motors should sort out before starting with the mass deliveries.

Tata Sierra Pros
The design is the most attractive factor of the Sierra and it really helps to grab attention. The length of the wheelbase is the longest in the segment, it is the widest and the tallest SUV in the class too. The cabin area is greatly benefited from the spacious nature and comes with the largest trunk capacity of the segment at 622 litres. The external fit and finish are remarkable, as no gap between the panels can be seen, and LED lighting is provided as a standard feature from the base variant onwards.

Tata Motors retains the foremost, safety A-grade which was also the underlying philosophy of Sierra. For instance, it already features six airbags, ABS, traction control, ISOFIX mounts and ESP along with twenty-one other features all as standard. The two highest trims additionally offer Level 2 ADAS with 22 safety features that are very advanced as the main benefit of the seating comfort comes to mind. The cushioning is wonderful, and it gives excellent support to the thighs and back. The second row is very spacious and the SUV has good shoulder, thigh and leg support as it is one of the few SUVS in this segment that can fit three adults comfortably. Besides, the SUV is full of comfort features and buyers can either manual or automatic options in both turbo petrol and diesel versions.
Tata Sierra Cons
The Sierra has its limitations in spite of its strengths. The interior is designed in a way that makes extensive use of touch panels, thus eliminating the presence of physical buttons even for the most basic functions like AC controls or brake-related settings. Even though the triple screen layout has a modern look, the touchscreen performance comes across as laggy during the operation. The entry-level trims are not provided with touchscreen infotainment and speakers which seems like a missed opportunity given the starting price of ₹11.49 lakh.

The touch control for adjusting the ORVMs is not that intuitive and friendly user-wise. Furthermore, the SUV is the heaviest in its class which adversely affects the performance of the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine to a large extent. 106 hp and 145 Nm make the engine feel lethargic and it cannot deliver the needed power for a vehicle of this size thus leading to a poor power-to-weight ratio.
