Porsche Panamera – Once again, a fresh safety recall for the Panamera has lit up the Indian market reminding us of the critical safety checks rather than the new launch or performance update. In all, 158 units of the Porsche Panamera have been taken back due to a side-airbag crash sensors’s wiring issue. The other models which fall under this manufacturing period from July 2023 to September 2025 have already been indicated by Porsche as requiring repair, which will be done at no cost to the customer.

The wiring problem was discovered when the company realized that during the door panel assembly, the correct assignment of the wires for the side-airbag crash sensors was overlooked and faulty was the sensor which might have failed to pass on the collision signal at the moment of the crash. A delay even by a fraction of a second of airbag deployment poses a risk of very severe injury in a side impact accident, as airbag deployment is almost instantaneously done to save the occupants.

Only Panamera units with variants YAA and YAB are subject to this recall. Porsche India will soon be directly contacting all affected customers. The customer’s cars will be taken to authorized Porsche service centres for inspection and repair of the wiring fault. The entire process will be done by the manufacturer and owners will not have to pay anything for the remedy.
This is the second instance in which Porsche has had to recall a vehicle in India in the year 2025. Earlier in the year, the 991 series was called back because of the improper installation of the rear seat-belt buckle screws which was traced back to an improperly fitted aluminum mat during production. That issue was also resolved through a complimentary service campaign.

By the recent recall, Porsche attempts to maintain the Panamera’s status as a luxury, safe, and powerful car that the brand stands for and at the same time not to lose the customers’ trust. Recalls often imply a lot of concern, but they are also a good indication that the manufacturers are keeping a close watch on the safety of their products and are taking action before the problems get so serious that they affect the consumers.
