4 Budget-Friendly Petrol SUVs Set to Hit India in the Next 6 Weeks

4 Budget-Friendly Petrol SUVs – The Indian market is observing a swift boost in the sales of petrol-fueled SUVs which is the reason behind the automakers launching the petrol versions of their popular models. If you happen to be a fan of SUVs, then you should have an insight into four of the thrilling petrol SUVs from Tata Motors and Mahindra Automotive that will be appearing in the market within the next six weeks.

1. Tata Sierra

After a long wait, the Tata Sierra is back in the SUV market, this time as a midsize SUV that will challenge the Hyundai Creta. The main attractions of the Sierra are a daring cosmetical look, the return of the classic name, and a choice of two petrol motors:

1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol – 120 bhp, 140 Nm torque

1.5-litre turbo petrol – 167 bhp, 280 Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT

Apart from this, a reduced power version of the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel will also be offered. The futuristic design, tri-display cabin, and the tech that comes along with the Sierra make it one of the most talked about SUVs of 2025.

2. Tata Harrier

The next big thing after the Sierra will be the petrol variant of the Harrier. This SUV will probably get the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine just like the Sierra, which translates to 167 bhp and 280 Nm of torque.

At present, the Harrier comes with only the 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine option (170 bhp, 350 Nm). The introduction of the new petrol engine will let the buyers experience smoother and more refined driving without losing the Harrier’s luxuries and roomy interiors.

3. Tata Safari

The Tata Safari, the big seven-seater brother of the Harrier, has also decided to come with a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine and is ready to be introduced on December 9 along with the Harrier petrol. The engine has an output of 167 bhp and 280 Nm of torque, which is the same as that of Harrier petrol, thus providing a luxurious and powerful driving experience.

The Safari petrol is built on the same platform as the Harrier thus assures the same technology and comfort levels. As soon as it is introduced, it will be in direct competition with vehicles like Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar, thus offering the buyers a premium option of mid-size segment 7-seater petrol SUVs.

4. Mahindra XUV7XO

The Mahindra XUV7XO, the re-styled version of the XUV700, is anticipated to come around early January. It still has the powerful 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that generates 197 bhp and 380 Nm torque, thus positioning it among the most powerful petrol SUVs in its segment.

With the facelift, several updates are brought both outside and inside:

Exterior: More streamlined LED headlights, new LED DRLs, a redesigned front grille, updated front and rear bumpers, and new alloy wheels

Interior: Display configuration similar to the XEV 9E, enhanced infotainment system, and improved comfort facilities

The SUV is going to be a mix of sporty and tech-savvy, which will certainly attract buyers who look for performance and modern design in the mid-size SUV category.
